The Video Association of Dallas continues to be the voice of innovative, independent cinema for the Dallas area.
For 20 years we have been the driving force behind the Dallas Video Festival (July 31 to August 5). In addition, we produce a monthly TV show called Frame of Mind, and hold an annual 24 Hour Video Race (coming up May 18-19).
Currently, we have two screening series: Rock n Reel, a series of music-related films screening every Wed. night at the AllGood Cafe, and the UTD Cinematheque, a screening/filmmaker talk-back series held on the campus of UTD every first Wed. Calling for entries Entries are still being accepted for the 21st Dallas Video Festival: Video Association of Dallas presents the 21st annual Dallas Video Festival to be held at the Angelika Film Center, located at 5321 East Mockingbird Lane in Mockingbird Station on October 3-5, 2008. Categories include: documentary, experimental video, video art, narrative fiction, music video, other, and installation. “The Program” of Video Art Exhibition Series Dallas Video Festival presents “The Program” of Video Art Exhibition Series “The Program” consisting solely of gallery-based video art and new media that will run over five Saturday evenings at the Conduit Gallery (staring July 26th). Fellow curators Dee Mitchell, Carolyn Sorter and I have traveled extensively on our own nickel in search of video art for this program. We enlisted the support of Howard Rachofisky in soliciting this work. Our efforts have resulted in a stellar program that represents an all-star showcase of cutting edge video art. We present to you a selection of digital art that will truly have you blogging about it around the water cooler come Monday. The Program will feature work from Mathew Barney, Nathalie Djurberg, Guy Ben-Ner, Ryan Trecartin, Yang Fudon ,Matt Marello, Cao Fei Michael Bell-Smith Meiro Koizumi and many others.
